Suffolk Gems & Hidden Villages
Departs: 11th May 2021
A most enjoyable day to beautiful Suffolk, renowned for its charming villages and medieval towns.Firstly, on our tour we head out to the ancient market town of Sudbury, situated on the River Stour, it's long heritage dates back to the Wool Trade and also its Silk Weaving Industry. Famous artists - Gainsborough and Constable amongst other nobles were also impressed by this attractive area, the beautiful buildings and landscapes.
You will find a variety of shops, restaurants and cafes within the town, which has a good mix of Victorian, Georgian and medieval timberframed buildings, with time to purchase lunch and refreshments.
We continue our tour through lovely Suffolk countryside and pretty villages and Hamlets - together with attractive pastel-shade thatched cottages to admire, before we arrive at Bury St Edmunds. Regarded as the 'Jewel of Suffolk' Bury St Edmunds has lots of 'gems' to relish, including the stunning Abbey Gardens, the magnificent Cathedral, plus, its excellent variety of small shops to explore - with the chance to obtain afternoon tea.
A picturesque day in Suffolk guided by Frances.
