Scarborough is one of England's oldest and finest seaside resorts. With a history spanning over a thousand years and surrounded by stunning scenery. The town stands between two splendid bays and is overlooked by magnificent rugged headland, which is crowned by a medieval castle. Strolls along the town's majestic restaurants and cafes. Discover its formal gardens, regarded to be amongst the best in the country.
After our local pick ups we make our way to Stamford for our lunch stop. After lunch we continue our journey to our hotel for our 4 night stay.
Today is a free day to explore Scarborough.
This morning we make our way to the attractive town of Pickering to board the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for a nostalgic journey through the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. We disembark at Grosmont, then transfer by coach to Goathland, which is famous as 'Aidensfield' in the popular Heartbeat TV series and more recently as Hogsmeade in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. We rejoin the coach and continue to the lovely fishing port of Whitby. A local guide joins today's excursion.
Today we spend the whole day in the lively walled riverside City of York, with its beautiful historic streets. York boasts numerous places of interest including the Jorvik Centre, the Railway Museum and York Minster.
After breakfast we depart our hotel and make our way home via the cathedral city of Newark for our lunch stop. We aim to arrive back home in our local area by early evening.
